Coffee Farms
About:
Coffee is a beverage that awakens the deepest passion among those who are accustomed to starting their routine with it, having another one after lunch, and why not, another one to accompany the afternoon. Although coffee is originally from Ethiopia, in Mexico we have made it so much our own that it is now our second largest export. Without a doubt, those who truly love coffee enjoy visiting the places where it is harvested, and for that, Chiapas is the perfect destination.
Known as Soconusco, the multifaceted and profoundly beautiful region of southern Chiapas, anyone who travels through Mexico's most Central American region in search of adventure will find themselves face to face with beautiful beaches lapped by Pacific waves. It takes a couple of hours to reach high coffee farms, at altitudes ranging from 600 to 1,250 meters, where the climate is ideal for a cup of coffee and enjoying the view.
Coffee altitude and quality may seem unrelated, but the height at which the fruit is grown has a direct impact on the flavor, shape, and size of the crop. The term "high altitude coffee" is one of 11 terms used to describe coffee quality in Mexico, but this one in particular speaks of outstanding quality. To qualify for this distinction, the minimum altitude at which the coffee plantation must be grown is 900 meters above sea level, a characteristic that can be found in abundance in Chiapas.
If you're a nature and coffee lover, then you can't miss the opportunity to visit some of the farms in Chiapas. We can mention Finca Hamburgo and Finca Argovia, but there are more in the area that are part of the tour. Get ready for fascinating experiences, such as exploring paths through the jungle vegetation on foot, mountain bike, or horseback. Don't miss the opportunity to learn about the coffee production processes, from cultivation to roasting, preparation, and tasting—a must-see for any lover of this dark elixir.
